The cavernous, burgundy stained walls of a former wine cellar now house the semi-underground Wayward Brewing Company, where world travels have inspired both the décor and the beers. Vintage suitcases, travel posters and a retired motorcycle provide the feeling of travel for your eyes, whilst your palate is taken on a journey with some familiar European and American style beers that are given an eccentric, somewhat ‘wayward’ twist.
You must try: Something quirky – whether it’s barrel aged, or brewed with tea, flowers, fruit or funky yeast.
Did you know? The official story is that India Pale Lager FUSAMI was named after a long-lost Wikipedia article detailing a beer-brewing Sumerian tribe, but legend has it that the beer is actually a big “FU” to “SABMiller, India”, with whom the owners fought a long legal battle over the Wayward name. Just a rumour, of course.
